Hi, I'm Dillan Spence and I have been teaching guitar lessons since 2017. I began teaching for Abundance Creative arts in Laramie, Wy in 2018, while pursuing a bachelor's degree in Music Performance. I have since graduated and now reside in Cheyanne, Wyoming (when I am not bouncing around on the road and in the mountains.) I I teach guitar lessons locally and online.

My goal for all my students is to develop an understanding of music and a skillset that allows them to express the sounds they hear in their mind. I place a heavy emphasis on improvisation in my teaching method. With every new skill learned, I direct my students to "play." By this I mean simply use the skill you just learned and create some music. This emphasis on "improvising," which I just call "playing," is intended to promote creative use of what you learn on your instrument. Along with this comes an understanding of music theory. I call this part of your vocabulary.

Music is a language. The songs, scales, chords and licks that you learn are your vocabulary. My aim is to not just teach vocabulary, but teach you how to form your own musical thoughts with this vocabulary. Think of it as putting the right words in the right places to form a sonic story.
